Proposed 1 v 3 scramble format for Banquet night
Teams are made up based on handicap ranking.
The four lowest handicap players are the “solo” player in each group. The other 3 players make up the opposing scramble team.
Using our current handicaps to formulate the teams, this would be the makeup of the groups (this could change depending on handicap changes prior to the banquet, and/or anyone missing that week):

Basically, the solo player plays their own ball as normal. The other 3 play as a best ball scramble team against the solo player.
All scores are NET, based on the solo player’s handicap versus the scramble team’s calculated handicap.
Each player puts up $5 for a total pool of $80.
There are 3 ways to win.
#1 – the 1v3 matches. In keeping with the 3:1 odds of the match, if the low handicapper beats the scramble team, he wins $12. If the scramble team wins, they each get $4.
#2 – the low handicappers vie for 1st and 2nd place amongst themselves, paying out $6 and $2 respectively.
#3 – the scramble teams also vie for 1st and 2nd place amongst THEMselves, paying out $6 and $2 respectively, per player.
For example:
Using the above groups, the scenario is: Mark and Marty each win their 1v3 matches, while Andy and Dan lose theirs. However, Andy and Dan finish 1st and 2nd respectively in the solo player category, as do the scramble teams they were playing against.
Results:
Mark $12
Marty $12
Andy $6
Dan F. $2
Dan P. Tim and Pete $4 each for beating Andy plus $6 each for 1st place
Gloria, Brian and Sue $4 each for beating Dan F, plus $2 each for 2nd place
12+12+6+2+4+4+4+4+4+4+6+6+6+2+2+2= $80
Usual tiebreakers apply.
The most any one player can win will be $18, which would entail one of the low handicappers winning both their scramble match AND 1st place in the low-handicap contest.
There are several potential permutations, should make it fun.
